New Board Members for the Lowy Institute
James Spigelman and David Gonski have been appointed board members of the privately funded Australian think tank The Lowy Institute for International Policy.
Mr David Gonski AC is a well-known business leader and a leading philanthropist committed to the arts and education. He chaired the review panel commissioned by the Australian Government to review funding for schooling, which published its report in December 2011. Among other positions, he currently serves as Chairman of Investec Bank (Australia) Limited, Coca-Cola Amatil Limited, and the Guardians of the Future Fund, and is Chancellor of the University of New South Wales
The Honourable James Spigelman QC AC was Chief Justice and Lieutenant Governor of New South Wales from 1998 to 2011. He is the author of several books and has published articles in legal journals in Australia, the United Kingdom and Asia. Between 1972 and 1975 he served as Senior Advisor and Principal Private Secretary to the Prime Minister of Australia. He is currently Chair of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.
