Neo-Nazis numbers in the NSW National Party continues to grow
NSW Labor frontbencher Walt Secord today called on NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian and Deputy Premier John Barilaro to act on “purge” the 35 members with links to neo-Nazis – from the ranks of the NSW Nationals – saying the infiltration is much wider than the Coalition originally claimed.
Walt Secord, who is deputy opposition leader in the NSW Parliament’s Legislative Council and deputy chair of the NSW Parliamentary Friends of Israel, said this has turned out to be one of the largest infiltrations of a major political movement in recent years.
“The Premier and Deputy Premier must remove this cancer from Australian politics,” Mr Secord declared.
He added: “They have been very slow to act and originally tried to deny the extent of the infiltration. But today, we see that there are 35 members under investigation due to their links to neo-Nazi groups.
These groups are downright disgusting and have no place in Australian politics.
They are offensive to the survivors of the Holocaust and Australian veterans who fought Nazism during World War II.”
Secord was referring to a recent ABC Radio National Background Briefing investigation into Australia’s alt-right movement and a front-page Daily Telegraph report which said an internal report had identified 35 members had links to neo-Nazi movements within the NSW National Party.
The young Nationals have been linked to right-wing groups which have expressed racist comments about Jews and Asians and have targeted LGBTI groups – as well as espousing pro-Adolf Hitler sympathies and calling for the execution of LGBTI community members. They also posed for photographs in front of Nazi uniformed guards.
Mr Secord said the infiltration plan was an old political tactic used by extreme right-wing groups in the 1970s; the racist and antisemitic Australian League of Rights attempted similar tactics with the Queensland National Party. At the time, the tactic was called “entryism” and the attempt was fought by then-Nationals leader Larry Anthony (Snr).
He commented: “These vicious and divisive groups have no place in our society. They preach hatred and intolerance. In short, their views are downright disgusting.
Last month, the National Party was beset by serious in-fighting and this month, it is being taken over by vicious antisemitic and racists.
Unfortunately, NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian is slow to act.
The Premier and Nationals leader John Barilaro must draw a line in the sand and immediately purge the individuals.”
And get rid of the corrupt communists and self serving unionists in the ALP too.
