Neo-Nazi Covid activity in Blue Mountains
NSW Labor has expressed its alarm that six shops in the Blue Mountains had neo-Nazi stickers placed on their storefronts and the QR check-in codes blocked by the stickers.
In addition, offensive pamphlets were distributed in the area.
Local shopkeepers believe that the stickers were placed on the shops on late September 21 and pamphlets were distributed in the area a day later.
One of the stickers said: “White Revolution is the only Solution”. Another had a link to a National Socialist Network website with a picture of Adolf Hitler and carrying the phrases: “working to secure the existence of our people and a future for White children … for White Australians disgusted with the multicultural, liberal cesspit this once great country is becoming”.
NSW Shadow Minister for Police Walt Secord and Blue Mountains Mayor Councillor Mark Greenhill said they were disgusted by the incidents.
Mr Secord said: “These ugly elements have no place in our society. Unfortunately, the filth that operate on the fringes of our society have surged in their activity during the COVID pandemic. They are jumping on the back of COVID.”
Mr Greenhill said “the Blue Mountains is a harmonious community and I am sickened by the activity. This type of activity has no place in our society.”
Mr Secord and Mr Greenhill urged anyone with information to contact Springwood police or Crimestoppers.
Recent police evidence to the NSW Parliament revealed that NSW Counter Terrorism confirmed that of the 1000 extremists across four tiers attracting some level of NSW police attention, it was monitoring 80 religious and far-Right extremists in NSW. These 80 were considered to be capable of “tier one” and “tier two” threats to the general community.
In addition, they estimated that there were 15 members of the far-right extremist National Socialist Network operating in NSW.
Springwood is located 72 kilometres west of Sydney and has a population of 8,500 people.
