At Bondi’s Our Big Kitchen mothers  from all walks of life and different journeys came together and united to support each other in their common bond of being mums.

An idea that started over a catch-up between Rabbi Slavin and Marina Makhlin of Belle Property turned into a beautiful morning orchestrated by the team at Our Big Kitchen led by Shannon Cohen, Mrs Makhlin & her mother Stella Gankin and Carli Skurnik & Nicky Cadry of BuyEast.

The team at Lox, Stock and Barrel cooked an amazing breakfast and served coffee throughout the morning, with beautiful treats donated by Grandma Moses & Jesse’s Bakery, with the help of the KA. GoGo Sports donated a jumping castle for the kids and platinum pre-school sent two huge bags of craft to keep the children entertained.

The team at MM Photos sent out a photographer to capture a photo of the mums with their kids and is organising a print for each mum. After a small call out for volunteers on Facebook they were overwhelmed by other mums raising their hands to give up their mother’s day morning to assist.

Tulipanna donated flowers for the tables and gift donations came from Roxy Jacenko, m.a.d.woman foundation & L’Occitane .

“It was beautiful to watch the community to come together in such a special way,” said Ms Makhlin.

“Our vision behind the event was a Mother’s Day, with mothers helping other mothers. It was to make the day special for mums who otherwise may not be celebrated on Mother’s Day.”

A participants told the OBK: “ I am often very anxious due to my situation but walking in here today made me feel so comforted, supported and warm. This is the first time in six months I have been able to eat a proper meal and drink a nice coffee”
