In the first three days of “Operation Vaccination at Home,” Magen David Adom’s Intensive Vaccine Mobility teams vaccinated more than 1,000 people.

Most of those vaccinated received only their first dose of the Coronavirus vaccination. Those vaccinated were mainly Arab Israelis.

Since the Minister of Health launched the operation on Monday, MDA teams have begun to reach communities where the percentage of people who have been vaccinated at all is the lowest in Israel, according to the new vaccine map.

Through yesterday, Wednesday, the mobile vaccination centres arrived in Kfar Qassem, Dalit al-Carmel, Jadeida-Makr and three neighbourhoods in East Jerusalem. Today the teams vaccinated people in Shefar’am and Kfar Qassem. Due to high demand, next week the MDA will significantly increase the operation’s activities.

The 1,000 person figure refers only to those who were vaccinated as part of Operation “Vaccination at Home” only. It does not include those vaccinated at their respective HMOs or at the IDF Home Front Command centres in those localities. So in actuality, the total number of first-time vaccinations in the relevant localities is higher.

Health Minister Nitzan Horowitz said, “The wealthy get vaccinated more often, the poor – much less. This is a reality that we must not accept. The way to rectify this is to go through a neighbourhood, street after street, and make the vaccines accessible right up to the door front.

We are happy with the wonderful response and the impressive activity of MDA. We will continue to expand this important operation.

MDA Director-General Eli Bin said, “Together with our partners in the Ministry of Health, we launched this week another vaccination campaign, with the aim of raising the percentage of vaccinated in the Israeli public, making the vaccine closest to home, accessible and encouraging those who have not yet been vaccinated [to do so].”

“I call on the citizens of the country to take the opportunity and get vaccinated in order to stop the spread of the corona epidemic so that we can return to a safe and healthy routine,”
Added Horowitz.
