Mizrachi mediation “in progress”
Rabbi Moshe Gutnick and representatives of Sydney’s Mizrachi Synagogue met before a professional mediator on Sunday. The rabbi, who has served Mizrachi for 21 years is facing redundancy because of the congregation’s financial position. President Mark Schneider has told J-Wire that in order to keep the Rabbi, they “would have to sell the Sefer Torahs.”
An EGM has been called for Tuesday night to decide the issue but Rabbi Gutnick has sought a court injunction to stop the meeting.
Sunday’s meeting produced no final result but Schneider told J-Wire that matters were “still progressing.”
Rabbi Gutnick has made it clear that should there be no positive result for him today, he will apply to the court tomorrow [Tuesday] for the sought-after injunction.
my comment was made in light of the community not trusting the bait-din.and why should they
To Ben Gershon:
Had you known what you were talking about, you would have realised that Rabbi Gutnick is going to court to force the synagogue to a Beth Din, which they initially refused.
Don’t include the rest of australian orthodox jewry in your warped opnion.
surely it should be able to get a standard ketubah between a rabbi and a community
if rabbis keep running to the courts.it only reinforces in the rest of us .what we have long suspected .an orthodox bait -din in Australia is not to be trusted
is not time for the bait-din to get some cerd
