More than 600 people heard leaders from the arts, business and sports communities  speak of the enormous contribution Pratt had made to their respective fields over the years.

References were made to Pratt the businessman, the sportsman and the family man with no mention being made of the legal battle he was fighting when died in April of prostrate cancer at the age of 74.

Instead the service focused on the immeasurable donations Richard Pratt had made to the Australian community at large during his life, with one speaker saying that his philanthropic efforts had been one of the greatest contributions to Australia that had ever been made.
