Levy has won Gold and Bronze at the Paralympics and at last year’s Maccabiah Games in Israel where he smashed the world record for the 200m.

Levy was born prematurely and has physical and vision impairment.

He told J-Wire: “My grandmother would be really pleased with my result. It was the combination of many years of hard work.”

Levy’s grandmother is currently overseas and is not in contact with Matt currently. She survived the Holocaust and moved to Australia from Prague after war.

J-Wire asked Matt what  winning  an individual event in front of your home crowd meant to him.

The 31-yr-old from Sydney responded: “It means a lot to represent your country and to do this in front of a home crowd is a lifetime achievement, it was amazing!”
He added: “I gelt relief and sense of satisfaction when I realised I had won.”
Jemima Montag won gold winning the Women’s 20km Walk.
