Mardi Gras time
This year marks the 15th anniversary of Jewish Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender group Dayenu marching in the Mardi Gras Parade.
Dayenu is excited again to be a part of Mardi Gras celebrations. Their float this year aims to promote the importance of family support. Having the support of family members has a positive effect on the quality of life of LGBT people. We hope to invite family members of Dayenu members. We acknowledge that for those whose birth families aren’t so supportive, Dayenu provides a family of choice.
They will run a Fair Day stall at Victoria Park on Sunday, 22 February 2015 as are asking for support for Dayenu in the Mardi Gras parade on Saturday, 7 March.
Why embarrass the Jewish Community by parading in Public on Shabbat.
I assume kosher hot dogs will not be available
Shabbat ends at 8.02pm on the day of the parade with the Dayenu float to march at around 8.30pm. Marchers will not be forced to break Shabbat when participating in the parade.
Will the rabbis join in if it’s after Shabbos?
