Marching rabbi
Joining the thousands of participants in Sydney’s ANZAC march was Maroubra rabbi Yossi Friedman.
Flight-Lieutenant Rabbi Yossi Friedman is the Jewish chaplain for the Royal Australian Air Force.
Before the march he joined local MP Ron Hoenig in Botany attending the dawn service where he laid a wreath on behalf of the Jewish community.
He told J-Wire: “This is my third year as chaplain but only my second march as last year Anzac Day fell on Shabbat. It was a very meaningful day for me and my thoughts took me to the brother of Greg Sher who died fighting in Afghanistan, I met Greg’s brother when I was going through my basic training. It added more emotion to what was a very emotional morning.”
