Jewish tour-guide and educator for StandWithUs Kay Wilson and a friend were viciously attacked by terrorists, while hiking near Jerusalem. She will be the guest speaker at Magen David Adom annual campaign dinner in Sydney.

Kay Wilson

Unfortunately Kay’s friend was killed in the attack but Kay miraculously survived, with thanks to the emergency treatment she received from Magen David Adom. Kay will share her incredible story as a survivor of this brutal attack and what it means to Choose Life against all odds.

Recently, in a powerful message that brought the light of truth into the dark halls of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) she gave a chilling account of her personal experience of the Palestinian approach to her rights as a human.

“The Palestinian Authority incites people to believe that Jews are unworthy of life,” said Wilson, The incentive: American and European tax-payers’ money given to the Palestinian Authority, which rewards incarcerated murderers with monthly execution stipends.”

“Avoiding duty, and with pathological bias, you blame Israel, a Jewish democratic state of thriving coexistence, in which an Israeli Arab Muslim surgeon saved my life. Gagged with prejudice, bound with bigotry or held hostage by hate, and ineffective to do the goodness that will enhance people’s lives, may this council be set free, liberated to embrace both the integrity and impartiality needed to make our region a better place,” she concluded.”

Wilson’s intentions in telling her story was to enlighten the UNHRC of the results of their actions by funding the Palestinian Authority which in turn provides stipends to terrorists and their families.

Magen David Adom is often referred to as Israel’s second line of defence.

Magen David Adom saves lives every day by providing Israel’s emergency medical response and ambulance services, managing the national blood bank and providing international disaster aid.

The vast majority of the medics and paramedics are dedicated and selfless volunteers, who rely on worldwide supporters to continue their life saving work.

Now more than ever

In just the past week, five people have been murdered in Israel. While sitting at their Shabbat table, a father and two of his adult children were stabbed to death. His wife, who was seriously wounded, was treated and saved by Magen David Adom paramedics.

Just a week earlier, three Israeli policeman were shot, two fatally. Once again Magen David Adom paramedics were on the scene in minutes. One of the paramedics was shot in the rescue yet still managed to safely evacuate the third policeman, saving his life.

Magen David Adom paramedics are there to save lives – even when it means risking their own. Magen David Adom paramedics are the first responders in these critical first moments and where every minute counts, this means saving more lives.

Over the past two years, Magen David Adom supporters in Sydney have donated vital life-saving equipment, ambulances and medicycles, all of which are critical to saving lives every day

Magen David Adom in Israel is reliant on worldwide support for emergency equipment, medicycles, ambulances and blood supplies for trauma patients and the victims of terror.

This year the MDA Annual Campaign will raise funds to purchase new fully equipped 4×4 ambulances. These ambulances are especially effective in allowing paramedics to reach patients in rough terrain and those living in Israel’s remote communities, such as the Galilee and Negev.

The population in these regions is growing, with more young families choosing to build their homes in Israel’s north and south. The growth of these areas is vital to Israel’s future security.

These families are however in desperate need of local emergency services and where every minute counts, faster response times means only one thing. Saving more lives.

MDA are also delighted to welcome Dave Sharma as their special guest. Mr Sharma has recently returned from Israel after serving as the Australian Ambassador and a true friend of Israel and Magen David Adom.

Magen David Adom will be holding their Annual Campaign event at 6pm on Sunday 13 August, University of NSW Kensington.
