Maccabeats a big hit

In less than four weeks, The Central Synagogue has hosted its second sell out concert.

Last night saw premier a cappella group the Maccabeats perform to an over 800 strong crowd at the UNSW Science Theatre.

With both the young and young at heart singing and dancing along to some of the group’s smash hits, the audience was not left disappointed with performances of Miracle, the Purim Song and Candlelight.

The Central Synagogue’s President, Dr Rob Rosen said, “Tonight we enjoyed a feel good event that brought together a wide spectrum of the community, both in terms of age and affiliation.  We are delighted with its success and really pleased with the positive feedback we are receiving.”

The Maccabeats have now arrived in Melbourne where they will perform for the St Kilda Hebrew Congregation.

The singers visited Our Big Kitchen and sang as they prepared challahs for Shabbat…
