Global executive and entrepreneur Ro Knox has begun her campaign to give Wentworth a strong voice in the next Federal Government.

The electorate covering Sydney’s much of its Easter Suburbs is home to a large proportion of the city’s Jewish community.

Ro Knox said: “The electorate of Wentworth deserves a Member of Federal Parliament who will give our community a seat at the table. A nation governed by Labor and the Greens and supported by the Teals is a place where hard work and aspiration is punished by higher taxes and where our economy is tied up in red tape and regulation.”

Ro spent almost a decade in New York, first in strategic management consulting and later as a founding partner in an entrepreneurial incubator firm. She holds a Bachelor of Laws (with Honours) and a Bachelor of Arts and completed International Law at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. More recently, she founded Chasing Sunshine Sydney a clothing brand for teen girls which manufactures sustainably in Sydney and focuses on inspiring the next generation of leaders.

She has extensive involvement in the Wentworth community and is currently the Vice Chair of the Ascham Foundation and Chair of the Sydney Art Quartet, and was previously the Treasurer and Vice Chair of the Holdsworth Community Centre.

Having lived in Wentworth for almost two decades with her husband and two children, Ro believes the local community needs a strong representative who can deliver for the electorate and have a real impact on Australia’s direction.

“I’m hearing about the economic struggles of businesses and households across Wentworth every single day. These struggles are driven by poor economic policy, and as a small business owner I was particularly concerned by the changes to IR legislation which adds more complexity and less flexibility to our workplaces,” said Ro Knox.

In her first statement as the Liberal candidate for next year’s general election, Ro Knox commented: “Furthermore, I am extremely concerned by the breakdown in social cohesion and the rising tide of antisemitism exhibited across Australia and felt keenly in our electorate. We need to ensure social cohesion, a key tenet of being Australian, is maintained and upheld.

“Under Labor, Australia’s inflation is higher than most advanced economies, putting more pressure on interest rates. Endless rate rises have created record levels of mortgage stress, and almost half of Wentworth residents who are renting are feeling acute rental pain with the highest rent increases since 2009. We cannot afford another term of Labor.

“The Liberal Party has a strong track record of delivering lower interest rates and lower taxes, and the only way to stop another three years of a Labor’s cost of living crisis is to elect a Liberal Member for Wentworth.”
