Maurice Klein speaks with Senator Dave Sharma, Liberal senator for New South Wales.

As Australia’s Ambassador to Israel (2013-2017) with many more years’ experience in foreign affairs, Senator Sharma presents a clear historical understanding of the foundation, and development of the State of Israel into the modern state and OECD economy that it is.

Through the resilience and creativity of the people of Israel, there simply isn’t anything like it anywhere in the world. Senator Sharma is unequivocal, stating that Israel has the absolute right to defend itself against Hamas/Iran’s proxy, which is committed to the destruction of Israel, and has no interest in the wellbeing of the Palestinians.

Jews are the indigenous people of the land of Israel in the Middle East, Israel is not a coloniser, Israel is not an apartheid state and no, Israel is not committing genocide!

That’s the Hamas sole ideological purpose.  He goes onto say: “UNRWA is part of the problem not part of the solution”. Australia should not be funding UNRWA anymore; UNRWA is a recipe for the conflict’s prolongation. Australia has handled the rise of anti-Israel antisemitism which has crossed the line of Australia’s civic values from the outset, having created a climate of tolerance. Australia needs to see strong leadership from law enforcement and political leaders across the political spectrum.  There is no visible manifestation or evidence of growing Islamophobia in Australia.
