Michael Gawenda – Books to educate parliamentarians
Morry Frenkel speaks with Michael Gawenda, about the five books he selected to be sent to all federal parliamentarians by the Executive Council of Australian Jewry (ECAJ). This action was taken in response to the pro-Palestinian books sent recently to all members of federal parliament and endorsed by the Australia Palestine Advocacy Network (APAN) and the Jewish Council of Australia (JCA).
Michael explains his reasons for choosing the books on his list: “Israel, A Simple Guide to the Most Misunderstood Country on Earth” (by Noa Tishby), “My Promised Land” ( by Ari Shavit), “Letters to my Palestinian Neighbour” (by Yossi Klein Halevi), “Israel A Concise History of a Nation Reborn” (by Daniel Gordis) and “My Life as A Jew” (by Michael Gawenda).
He believes these books will better educate parliamentarians on the history of conflict in the Middle East and provide Israel’s perspective. Michael also speaks about the serious threat to Australia’s multicultural society posed by the government’s lack of leadership at a time when its response to the conflict in the Middle East is critical.
