Labor MP and Paralympian attends Central Coast Jewish community birthday celebrations

Gosford NSW Labor MP and Paralympian gold medallist Liesl Tesch was among the more than 40 people who attended the 19th birthday celebrations of the Central Coast Jewish community held recently.

She joined the Kadimah Jewish Congregation Central Coast in dancing the Hava Nagila in her wheelchair.

Ms Tesch represented Australia in various Paralympic and world championships. winning Gold at London Paralympics and Rio and Silver and Bronze at Sydney, Athens and Beijing.

In April 2017, she was elected the member for Gosford in the New South Wales Legislative Assembly at the Gosford state by-election.

Previous speakers at the Central Coast Jewish community have included Shadow Health Minister and NSW Parliamentary Friends of Israel deputy chair, Walt Secord and Federal Senator Deborah O’Neill.

The theme for the celebrations was “Chanukah in July”.

Kadimah Jewish Congregation, Central Coast usually holds services about twice a month and outside Sydney has the second largest Jewish community after Byron Bay.
