Western Wall employees engaged in the routine removal of notes ahead of Rosh Ha’Shana and the Jewish High Holidays on Tuesday morning. The removal of the notes, which generally contain personal prayers written by visitors to the Western Wall, occurs twice a year – once before the High Holidays, and once before Passover. The Western Wall Heritage Foundation collects the notes and buries them on the Mount of Olives.
