Kosher chicken wurst recalled
Solomon Kosher Butcher Pty Ltd is conducting a recall of 200g Vacuum Packaged Godel’s Chicken Wurst.
The following information has been released by Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ).
The product has been available for sale at Solomon Kosher Butcher, Kosher Kingdom, and Budget Rite in Doncaster VIC, and Krinsky’s Supermarket, Bondi NSW.

Use by 8/9/20, 17/9/20
Problem
The recall is due to to a possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.
Food safety hazard
Listeria monocytogenes may cause illness in pregnant women and their unborn babies, the elderly, and people with low immune
systems.

What to do
Consumers should not eat this product. Any consumers concerned about their health should seek medical advice. Customers should return the product to the place of purchase for a full cash refund.
Solomon Kosher Butcher management has issued a statement saying: “During routine food safety testing last week we detected Listeria monocytogenes within a product line and immediately issued a food recall on Friday 28 August.
Godel’s Chicken Wurst (200g Vacuum Packaged), was impacted with a listed use-by date of 8/9/20 or 17/9/20.
We have already identified and removed all but 12 product packets from sale. All local retailers were notified and Food Recall notices are on now on display in their stores.
Of the packets unidentified:
6 sold at Solomon Kosher Butcher in Elsternwick, VIC
4 sold at Kosher Kingdom Supermarket in Elsternwick, VIC
1 sold at Budget Rite Supermarket in Doncaster, VIC
1 sold at Krinsky’s Kosher Supermarket in Bondi, NSW
Any customer who purchased this product should not consume it. The product should be returned to the place of purchase for a full cash refund.
The Department of Health has advised that eating foods that contain Listeria monocytogenes does not cause illness in most people however some can become sick. We are not aware of any person experiencing any illness as a result of this incident.
The product recall is ongoing in coordination with Food Standards Australia, the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services and PrimeSafe.
We want to reassure customers that despite the small and isolated nature of the incident, we are continuing outreach to identify all impacted products. Our customer’s health and safety is paramount and we have ceased production of this product and increased testing until it is deemed safe.
