A rally calling for a boycott outside the Wellington theatre housing a performance of the Batsheva Dance Group will be countered by a peaceful demonstration by supporters of Israel including members of the Israeli embassy staff.

John Minto, a pro-Paestinian activist, will be among a bus-load of members of the combined NZ Palestine solidarity network travelling from Auckland to protest

The dance group is scheduled to perform from Friday to Monday at Wellington’s St James Theatre .

Organisers of the counter-demonstration have told J-Wire that there will be placards and leaflets but no violence. The Police have been informed.

Pro-Palestinian supporters claim the rally is “to protest Batsheva’s role in whitewashing Israeli apartheid”.
