Kerry on regardless…writes Michael Kuttner
Do you remember those old “carry on” films which were so popular many years ago? Those British produced comedies exemplified everything that was outrageous yet not quite unbelievable in depicting the mad side of life.
Today’s actual realities unfolding in this part of the world bear an uncanny resemblance to that series and if the consequences were not so dire we could in fact describe them as comedies. Instead we are faced with anything but a comedy. The current crop of actors excel at performing in a farce of Hollywood proportions which is likely to result in a box office flop. However like the original series they insist against all logic and common sense in carrying on regardless of the chaos which must inevitably ensue.
The two principal lead actors, Kerry and Ashton, already have a couple of dud performances to their credit. The much touted Ukraine blockbuster of a script is unraveling as at this moment and as predicted by anyone with an ounce of common sense, has proven to be a worthless piece of paper. The other effort, at preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons of mass destruction, is running its predictable course and will at the end of the day also result in a decisive victory for those plotting genocide and a resounding defeat for the appeasers. Neither of these two fiascos will of course be touted as a failure but will be spun as a triumph of liberal peacemakers much in the same vein as Chamberlain waving his piece of Munich paper.
As if these two examples of diplomatic impotence in the face of determined force and devious intentions are not enough, the aforesaid actors have been engaged like frenetic energized bunnies in running hither and thither in order to pull yet another flawed “agreement” out of an increasingly tattered hat. Long past the time when even the dimmest of observers could see that Abbas and the Palestinian Arabs can never bring themselves to recognize the Jewish State as the legal homeland of the Jewish People and declare a final end to the conflict, Kerry and Ashton continued to pluck at ever decreasing straws in order to arrive at something which would guarantee mayhem rather than lasting peace. In this they have been assisted by a motley cast of support actors, Jewish and non Jewish, who urged them on in a quest for something which is at the present time, unattainable. Past history and actions seemingly do not exist and in their hallucinatory world all that matters is that Israel (i.e. the Jews) must make the ultimate sacrifices in order to receive worthless pieces of paper which will be shredded as soon as the main players depart the scene.
Three strikes and you are out. Those are the rules in baseball/softball and the same rules should apply to Kerry/Ashton/Obama. Unfortunately these rules do not apply in the rarified realm of diplomacy and thus we continue to suffer as they carry on at our expense.
Obviously Abbas and the PA are acting according to a different script which accounts for the latest chapter in a sorry saga. Days before the April deadline imposed by Kerry expires, the PA and Hamas have decided to consummate a marriage of convenience. The spin put out from Ramallah is that this is a purely internal matter and has nothing to do with the so called “peace” talks. Another spin is that once the two groups join together, they will both be committed to a peaceful solution and co-existence and anyone who says the opposite is a liar.
The fact that this soiled bill of goods can be successfully sold to the gullible is proven by the reaction of those who predictably refuse to see reality for what it really is.
J-Street announced that despite the fact that even the US State Department apparently does not expect Israel to negotiate with a declared terror organization, we nevertheless have no option but to negotiate with those whose declared aim is our elimination. This is the same warped thinking which led Israel to negotiate with the PLO, another terror group, and resulted in the disastrous Oslo agreement which has caused the murder of countless Jews and brought devastation to too many families. It also resulted in bringing the arch terrorist, Arafat, back from exile and implanting him in the heart of our country with the mayhem that ensued. To even imagine that we can fall for the same dirty tricks again is unbelievable. What is even more mind boggling is that there are still groups and individuals out there peddling the same warped advice.
The leader of the Israel Labor Party stated that it is our fault that Abbas has had to cozy up to Hamas. Similar sentiments have also been forthcoming from other left wing apologists.
In a brilliant display of myopic madness the EU spokesperson issued a statement welcoming the joining of the PA/PLO with Hamas. Despite Hamas being categorized by the EU itself as a terror group, they have the hypocrisy to declare that reconciliation is an important element for the unity of a future Palestinian state and for reaching a two-state solution.
I can do no better to illustrate the idiocy of the situation we face than to give you examples of how Hamas, the new partner of Abbas and the PA, views its agenda as far as Israel and Jews are concerned.
As reported by Palestinian Media Watch (PMW), the Hamas Prime Minister declared in the official PA daily newspaper, Al- Hayat Al – Jadida on 16 April 2014 as follows:
The kidnapping of Israeli soldiers is part of the agenda of the Palestinian resistance and of the Hamas movement, and will continue as long as there are Palestinian prisoners in the Israeli prisons.
Here are some choice extracts from the official Hamas Charter which despite any spin you may hear from the PA is part and parcel of their plans for peace:
Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it.
Palestine is an Islamic land… Since this is the case, the Liberation of Palestine is an individual duty for every Moslem wherever he may be.
The day the enemies usurp part of Moslem land, Jihad becomes the individual duty of every Moslem. In the face of the Jews’ usurpation, it is compulsory that the banner of Jihad be raised.
[Peace] initiatives, and so-called peaceful solutions and international conferences are in contradiction to the principles of the Islamic Resistance Movement… Those conferences are no more than a means to appoint the infidels as arbitrators in the lands of Islam… There is no solution for the Palestinian problem except by Jihad. Initiatives, proposals and international conferences are but a waste of time, an exercise in futility.
What more proof does any sane person need in order to realize that carrying on as before is suicidal and senseless? As we prepare to commemorate Yom Hashoa and remember those who were murdered in the Holocaust, it is incumbent on us to make sure that we never again put ourselves at the mercy of those who plot our demise and do not succumb to the wishful thinking of those who never learn the lessons of our recent and tragic past.

Michael,
What is also the height of insanity is that the Israeli Government under Netanyahu (a man who I no longer remotely respect)carries out like they’re still in peace talks mode. Netanyahu has frozen the completion of new settlement building applications again, due to pressure from Obama. Livni, a left wing ideologue continues with her mantra that she is ready to talk anytime and the door is open, the defence minister says bravely that we are willing to extend our hand in friendship but the hand will turn into a closed fist should anyone try to harm Israel. Tough words but that’s about it.
Harm Israel!
Rockets continually keep flying over.
Hamas has joined the PA.
The propaganda and incitement to hatred continues day in day out and Israel foolishly carries on like the talks haven’t really broken down and are over.
When is that suicidal nation of Jews going to develop a spine, denounce the “Palestinian” narrative for the fiction that it is, going to shut down the PA’s offices in Jerusalem and once and for all going to end the aspirations of the sons of Ishmael of ever having any part of Jerusalem as their capital.
In short when will Israel have the spine to make unilateral decisions on borders and reclaim the Temple Mount? When will Israel tell the EU, the US and all other sundry intellectual pygmies to butt out of its affair once and for all?
Maybe even if a fraction of the above were to happen, it would be a start.
But Israel is virtually leaderless with everyone singing a different tune.
Maybe Jews don’t handle democracy well and if ever there were such a thing as a benevolent dictatorship, maybe this is what is needed.
A nation cannot be outflanked time and time again, lose one ideological battle after another, have loons as their negotiators and expect to end up winning the war.
