Kangarusski organised fifty volunteers to meet at Sydney’s Our Big Kitchen to prepare food to deliver to people in need.

Kangarusski is the Russian Speaking Jewish Community (RSJC) department of the Zionist Federation of Australia (ZFA),engaging the Russian speaking members of the community with both Jewish and Israel content. It has been further developed by a dedicated volunteer base with the desire to celebrate their Jewish heritage and revive their Australian Jewish social epicenter.

The dedicated group was led by Mila from Mila’s Kosher Catering and Yulia Bilder an accomplished dessert chef from Israel and together they ran the cooking session for the Kangarusski group.

Inna Polura, a very involved Kangarusski volunteer said: “This is the most important event that Kangarusski has ever gathered for, because; it united four generations of our people and gave us all the greatest pleasure of giving.”

In total fifty meals were cooked, packaged and delivered to Jewish House in Bondi and to the Russian speaking Jewish elderly group in Waterloo. It was there that the Kangarusski volunteers set up dinner tables for the residents and stayed on to engage and converse with the residents.

Anna Maylis, Kangarusski coordinator said: – “The happiness in the eyes of those people and the warm words of gratitude were the greatest reward our volunteers could have received.”
