Just in time
The leader of the NSW Opposition has sent a Yom Kippur message to the Jewish community.
The following message from John Robertson arrived shortly before Jews around the State headed to synagogue for the Kol Nidre service…
I extend my deepest respects to the Jewish community of NSW on the Holy occasion of Yom Kippur.
This is a cherished and sacrosanct time when Jewish community members engage in repentance, contemplation and the renewal of their faith.
This Yom Kippur is a time for all of us to reflect on the challenges facing the world – and our obligation to help create a better world.
Jewish community members are shining lights who work daily for the betterment of their fellow citizens – and you will always have a treasured place in our multicultural society.
Ours is a country where we celebrate our freedom – and the right of all people to practice their religion in peace.
On behalf of NSW Labor, I wish the Jewish community a rewarding fast on this most momentous and Holy of days on your calendar.
