Jul-25 Sydney: Homage to Blue Note

Read on for article

After a long hiatus, VJs at the North Shore Temple Emanuel will present Homage, a jazz collaboration between Mark Ginsburg and Ray Cassar inspired by that hallmark combination of trumpet and saxophone so frequently featured in the classic Blue Note quintets.

Homage will perform at VJs in Chatswood on Sunday 25 July at 7pm. Together with pianist Ryan Grogan, bassist Karl Dunnicliff and drummer Evan Mannell, this quintet was formed to honour the great composers and players who created the foundation upon which the modern jazz genre exists today.

Homage’s repertoire includes the music of Horace Silver, Chick Corea, Bill Evans, Clifford Brown, Benny Golson, Bheki Mseleku, Roy Hargrove and Randy Brecker as well as original compositions of the band members.

Homage’s recent performance at Foundry616 was a sell-out.  Here’s another opportunity to see this group in action.

Due to COVID restrictions, tickets for this show are limited.  Click here to BOOK NOW   $30, $25 concession and $15 students.
