JPs get thanks for 50 years service
Member for Vaucluse, Gabrielle Upton MP today congratulated seven Justice of the Peace from the Vaucluse electorate in Sydney for their 50 years of service to the community.
Ms Upton said “I was so proud to welcome Stephen Cohen JP, Michael Downey JP, Henry Khedoori JP, Con Kristallis JP, Ephraim Landes JP, George Sofer JP and John Tintner JP to NSW Parliament today where they were awarded a commemorative certificate to celebrate their Golden Jubilee of service.”
“They are among the longest-serving JPs in NSW and have all given countless hours to helping people at important times in their lives. Whether someone is starting a new job, buying a house or applying for a passport, they have been happy to lend a helpful hand.”
Ms Upton said the NSW online register of Justices of the Peace has been upgraded to make finding a local JP faster and more convenient than ever. “The updated system allows JPs to specify the dates and times they are available and what languages they speak,” Ms Upton said.
JPs act as independent witnesses to documents that people need for a variety of important purposes on a voluntary basis. Their main duties are to witness affidavits and statutory declarations and they can also certify copies of original documents.
