Over 180 young volunteers gave their time to participate in JNF NSW’s Blue Sunday telethon.

Blue Sunday replaced JNF’s Green Sunday cancelled due to COVID concerns, and disappo9nted teachers and students.

To ensure that this year’s cohort did not miss the incredible ruach and spirit of tzedakah that this day offers, JNF introduced Blue Sunday in honour of the JNF Blue Box.

Blue Sunday continues the 120-year-old tradition of placing coins in a Blue Box to support Israel but on a much bigger and technologically advanced scale.

The 2022 appeal raised funds to build 14 green and protected playgrounds at 14 kindergartens near the Gaza border.

NSW President Pam Krail and volunteers Sheila Lazarus, George Weiss, Rachel Sussman and Sue McCartney joined the youth volunteers at Moriah College’s Hamakom.

Education shaliach Yigal Nisell, who is returning to Israel after seven years in Australia, commented: “What makes Blue Sunday so special is that despite the kids’ busy schedules, the schools, youth movements and students were incredibly excited to volunteer for Israel and for JNF. And of course, we thank the whole community for their receptivity.”
