JIFF – Up and Rolling
The Jewish International Film Festival has opened its 2014 event in Sydney marking 25 years of bringing Jewish movies to screens in Australia and New Zealand.
The festival will screen 43 films and will bring the Jewish world in film to audiences in Melbourne and Sydney and for the first time Perth, the Gold Coast and Auckland.
The Festival is organised by Melbourne husband and wife team Eddie and Lindy Tamir, owners of the Classic Cinema.
Lindy Tamir told J-Wire: “This is our third Festival and we so thrilled with the way audiences value the work done in bringing Jewish themed movies to Australia.”
On JIFF’s website are view on demand films from previous festivals.
The Tamirs travel the world in search of suitable films visiting film festivals in Berlin, Cannes and Tel Aviv.
Lindy added: “We actually buy a quarter of the film shown and become the distributors for wider screenings across Australia.”
