JewishCare deals with Same Sex Separations
Separation in the case of same sex relationships may pose a number of challenging and often vexing issues especially when children are involved.
The ensuing legal questions may be further complicated when other parties such as a sperm/egg donor, birth mother are also involved.
As part JewishCare’s recently established Family Dispute Resolution (FDR) program, over 20 legal practitioners and other interested parties recently attended a seminar entitled Mainstreaming Same Sex Parenting.
Paul Boers, a Specialist in Family Law at Craddock Murray Neumann informed the attendees about some of the more pertinent recent legislative changes that could have implications for same sex couples.
Over the last 6 months, JewishCare’s FDR team which comprises accredited FDR practitioners who all have extensive child and family experience, has held over 20 sessions for couples and has issued 10, 60i certificates.
Dr. Ilan Buchman the manager of JewishCare’s Children Family and Community Services who introduced Paul Boers said “the interest in the talk demonstrates that there is clearly a need to provide information about separation issues to all of sections of the community”.
