Content in “The Gruen Transfer” scheduled to be aired tonight has been removed by the ABC on legal advice. The hit show which pits two advertising agencies against each other to sell the unsellable is airing a segment in which the agencies have to promote obesity as being desirable in the community as it is good for the economy.

The Foundry, a Sydney-based agency focused on “fat pride” claiming that if it was offensive to make jokes about “blacks, poofters and Jews” then it should be also offensive to crack jokes about fat people.

But the studio audience did not find it funny and the ABC lawyers did not find it appropriate. The offending segment will not be screened.
