Federal Member for Melbourne Ports Michael Danby has welcomed the announcement from the Minister for Home Affairs that Jewish pre schools are eligible for security funding.

Mr Danby and Minister Jason Clare met the leadership of the Jewish schools two weeks ago at the Sholem Aleichem College. At the meeting the delegation sought clarification from the Minister regarding whether Jewish pre schools could be included in the Government’s Secure Schools funding program.
“I am very pleased that the Minister has pursued concerns raised at this meeting”, Mr Danby said.
The schools also queried whether the bollards could be included in the funding and the Minister clarified that bollards did indeed come within appropriate capital funding under the Secure Schools funding program.
“The Australian Jewish Community can be certain that the Federal Government wants to see the community schools concentrate on their excellent educational record and operate on a level playing field with security enjoyed at other Australian schools”,  Mr Danby said.
