Sydney community organisations, JewishCare & Jewish House, have formed a landmark partnership with the launch of Jobs Open! – a joint initiative designed to connect local employers and job-seekers together to create mutually beneficial workplace opportunities.

Jobs Open! is a unique project uniting three previously independent employment initiatives to address the rise in unemployment within the Jewish community. These once separate workplace initiatives include Jewish House’s The Avodah Jobs Project, and JewishCare’s two programs – Project Turnaround and J-JOBS.

  • Jewish House’s Avodah Jobs Project and JewishCare’s Project Turnaround programs are initiatives that have helped secure employment for people in our local community who experienced job loss as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic over the past year, along with other life events. The two independent programs have provided more than 100 job-seekers with job seeking support – including CV writing, interview skills, application letters, career coaching, mentoring from workplace & industry experts, counselling, training programs and job matching.

  • J-JOBS is breaking down barriers and optimising business outcomes through the employment of people living with a disability. Funded by JCA’s The Choice Foundation, J-JOBS is an innovative approach to securing and maintaining meaningful employment for a job seeker with a disability, providing meaning, purpose and independence to those living with a disability.

The new Jobs Open! collaboration is a mutually beneficial project for employers and employees. This free service ensures the best match for both employers and employees.

“I was assisted and empowered to get a full-time job by genuinely caring and professional staff ready to help me from CV writing tips to interview practice,”  said one of our job seekers.

All employers will benefit from advancing their corporate social responsibility, increasing diversity and strengthening their workplace culture.

“Thank you for introducing us to our new employee. We couldn’t be happier. The wisdom they bring and the questions they’ve asked are invaluable. Their experience means they’re ready to go from the start and bring a wealth of knowledge to the business. Plus, they are grateful to be here, super-engaged and independently accountable,” said a participating employer.

Jobs Open! is a joint initiative between JewishCare & Jewish House committed to helping businesses and individuals in our local community to thrive.
