Jewish House hosts its annual Gala with a star-studded line up
Jewish House is getting ready to host its annual gala fundraising event in December.
Having run successfully for almost 20 years and traditionally in person, this year’s gala – Another night in with Jewish House – will go ahead online as a result of the pandemic.
Israeli Megastar Gad Elbaz
The 1-hour virtual event will feature a keynote address, performances from Australian musician Ben Lee, entertainment from New York comedian, MODI and an update from Jewish House CEO, Rabbi Mendel Kastel on Jewish House’s frontline response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Rabbi Kastel, a commissioner with the Australian National Mental Health Commission, will share valuable insights on the issues facing marginalised communities. The gala event will also highlight stories about those assisted by Jewish House over the past 12 months.
The event includes a jam-packed silent auction & raffle full of experiences, luxury items, art, jewellery, and holidays. Funds raised on the night will go towards Jewish House’s crisis services in 2022 – providing vulnerable people with access to crisis & temporary accommodation, food, in-house psychology & counselling services, online life skills and resilience-building workshops, and JH Kids children’s programs.
Donations from the evening will also help communities reeling specifically from the flow-on effect of the COVID-19 pandemic.
A notable speaker of the night will be Chief Rabbi Dr Warren Goldstein, the Chief Rabbi of The Union of Orthodox Synagogues of South Africa. He is the first Chief Rabbi of South Africa born in the country and the youngest person ever to be appointed to that post, when he was 32.
Speaking on the upcoming event, Rabbi Kastel expressed his “call to the community to come together” to enjoy a “wonderful evening with entertainment and joy” on the backend of extended COVID lockdowns and isolation.
The evening’s MC is Kathryn Eisman, a two-time Emmy Award nominated television journalist, host and producer. With such a range of speakers and entertainers, Another night in with Jewish House is likely to not just engage and help support Jewish House to continue to change lives in 2022, but will give community members the opportunity to come together at watch parties, entertain friends and family, and tune in for an inspiring 1-hour evening.
The Jewish House gala, Another night in with Jewish House, will be occurring online at 8PM on December 9th.
Date: Thursday December 9th
Time: 8pm
