Sydney’s Jewish House’s Chanukah event scheduled for 4:30pm today, Wednesday 13 December, was forced to be cancelled when parts of the ceiling in Eastgate mall collapsed today.

Jewish House CEO, Rabbi Mendel Kastel said “It is unfortunate that we have had to cancel our Chanukah celebration today, but public safety is number one when it comes to our supporters. We are so relieved that there were no injuries reported from the structural collapse. We’d like to thank the management of Eastgate Mall for their assistance, and wish all of our friends and clients a very happy Chanukah.”

Jewish House will send through details of a new Chanukah event celebration next week. Information to follow.
