Jewish House calls for volunteer mental health professionals
Sydney crisis service, Jewish House, is calling for psychologists, psychiatrists and counsellors in the local community to join their team and help provide specialised support to the growing number of people experiencing distress as a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic.
CEO of Jewish House Rabbi Mendel Kastel is a Commissioner with the National Mental Health Commission of Australia and has expressed his continued support for individuals in crisis,
“Jewish House has provided support for people in crisis for more than 35 years. We have guided the community through many uncertain times – and we are committed to helping families and community members through the coming months.
JH has recently partnered with JEMP, Sydney Clinic, Healthscope, PsychNet, Mum for Mum, and several local psychiatrists, counsellors and psychologists to respond to the influx of people requiring mental and emotional support, as a result of COVID-19.
Many of our community members are experiencing physical isolation for the first time, have lost their jobs, and are now adjusting to home-schooling. We are scaling up our mental health services – including our 24/7 crisis call line, psychology services, children’s mental health and wellbeing resources, and wellbeing toolkits.
If you are a clinical psychologist or qualified counsellor and wish to make your services available, please contact [email protected] or call 02 9386 0770. Together we can make a difference and come through the other side stronger. We are all in this together.”
Jewish House will continue to provide support, daily updates, recourses and referral pathways to help support individuals and families in need.
