Jewish Care Victoria launched its 2020 Yesod Board Foundation Program with a welcome and induction session held at the Coppel & Piekarski Family Disability Respite Centre.

Now in its fifth year, Yesod is a yearlong program that provides young professionals in the Victorian Jewish community with the opportunity to gain strong understanding of board leadership, governance best practice, and the professional duties of a for-purpose organisation.

In 2020, Jewish Care is partnering with The Observership Program to deliver expanded learning modules as part of the program. These modules, facilitated by the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD), aim to build participant confidence and capacity to serve on not-for-profit boards.

This new collaboration will provide participants with enhanced opportunities to network with a larger cohort of young professionals who share their passion for communal organisations and desire to serve on a not-for-profit board.

As part of the Yesod Board Foundation Program, participants are also matched according to skills and interests with a Board Director of Jewish Care, who acts as a mentor for the duration of the program. Participants are also provided with the opportunity to sit on a Jewish Care sub-committee and attend interactive sessions with keynote speakers.

Since its initial intake in 2016, the program has produced over 45 board-ready non-executive directors. The 2020 intake includes 12 high-calibre young professionals with expertise spanning a range of industries, including nephrology, research, the not-for-profit sector, law, and medicine.

Jewish Care congratulates the 2020 participants Adam Steinberg, Alissa Woolf, Ariel Hersh, Dan Goodhardt, Elise Cook, Emily Brott, Emma Stabey, Hannah Hammerschlag, Josh Bulafkin, Lindy Susskind, Roslyn Gunn, and Talia Boltin.

Jewish Care’s Yesod Program is proudly supported by the Kelly and Simon T. Morris and Simone and Barry Szalmuk-Singer families.
