Mediation is an important offering for those families who are considering or planning to separate or divorce, and has become an essential part of the divorce process.

“Engaging in mediation where each party gets an opportunity to talk about their needs and wants and then together, can negotiate an outcome is particularly important when there are children involved,” Marilyn Kraner, Manager Individual & Family Services said.

The Jewish Mediation Centre is a not-for-profit organisation that offers family dispute resolution, for individuals and families. This offering complements the work Jewish Care provides in terms of its family and parenting work, as well as its service response in matters of family violence.

“It is great to be able to offer a connection to a mediation service that understands Jewish culture and traditions,” Marilyn said.

Jewish Care is actively engaged in supporting individuals and families experiencing family and parenting difficulties, and works alongside individuals going through court processes, whether that is secular or religious courts.

Families are supported across a number of needs including counselling, financial support and counselling; housing, access to pro bono legal advice and social work services.
