Jerusalem terrorist attack: Australia stands with Israelis – MDA reports from the scene
In a statement, Penny Wong said: “We are deeply saddened to learn of the terror attack in Jerusalem in which eight worshippers at a synagogue were murdered, and many more injured, during Friday night prayers and as International Holocaust Remembrance Day drew to a close.
MDA 101 Dispatch Centre received several reports about a number of people injured from gunshots, next to a synagogue at the Neeve Ya’akov Blvd in Jerusalem.
MDA EMTs and Paramedics announced, at the scene, the death of five people, four of them were 60, 50, 25 and 20 years old males and a 60-year-old woman.
MDA teams conveyed five injured people to the Hadassah Mount Scopus and Sharei Tzedek hospitals.
Following admittance, the hospitals announced a man in his 30s and a woman in her 70s, were pronounced dead.
A 15-year-old youth was in moderate to severe condition and a 24-year-old male and a 60-year-old female were in moderate condition.
MDA Paramedic Fadi Dakidak was the first responders to arrive at the scene of the attack.
He reported: “It is a severe terror attack. We saw a woman and four men lying on the street. They had received gunshots and showed no sign of life.
We had to determine their death at the scene. In addition, we treated five injured people, among them a 70-year-old woman and a 30-year-old man who were in in critical condition.
EMT Yonatan Shor and Paramedic Eden Cohen added: “Upon arrival with our ambulance, a 24-year-old guy approached us suffering from gunshots to his back. We took him into the ambulance, provided medical treatment and conveyed him to the Hadassah Hospital in Mount Scopus, in severe condition,
He was taken immediately to the operating room.
