The short-lived presidency of Dr Andre Oboler of the Jewish Community Council of Victoria is now over,  a month before its planned date at end of January.

With a confused community receiving mixed messages from the JCCV over the last two weeks, the JCCV has announced that former vice-president Frank Greenstein is now acting president.

Dr Oboler told J-Wire: “The initial delay was to enable a handover as explained in the press release, and we have completed the handover early, so I decided, in consultation with Frank, to step out now and let Frank take things forward from here.”

Acting president Frank Greenstein added: “We have met a number of times over recent weeks and the JCCV is now ready for this transition ahead of schedule so we were happy to accept Andre’s offer to bring it forward.”

Dr Oboler’s president lasted one month. He leaves to take up a new demanding position in another organisation but will continue his work against online hate and antisemitism.
