JCA honours 2019 Volunteer Awards winners
At a special event at the JIFF film festival in Sydney JCA announced the recipients of its 2019 Volunteer Awards.
Three individuals were honoured for their outstanding contributions to the local Jewish community.
George Freund received the Hal Goldstein Lifetime Service Award for outstanding service to the NSW & ACT Communities. George has been a volunteer for more than 60 years and has volunteered across youth movements, synagogues, JCA and many other community organisations. Most recently he has spent the last ten years volunteering in numerous positions with COA NSW, including five years as President.
The Shofar Award for outstanding service to the Jewish Community was awarded to Liz Sharota who has been actively volunteering with JewishCare for over 20 years. Liz played a fundamental role in the development of Print35 from its earliest days in Botany to the thriving enterprise it is today.
Winner of the Mensch Award was Marika Pogany who has been volunteering for COA for the past 23 years and has personally delivered more than 12,000 Kosher Meals on Wheels to members of the community.
