Michael Jassy  joined BJE as a Board Member in 1981, serving as President from 2000 to 2008.  During his term as President, Jassy was Chairman of the Building Committee overseeing the sale of the old premises, and the building of the current BJE premises.  He was instrumental in broadening BJE’s focus from kindergartens to ensure that all school children in public schools receive a Jewish education.

Michael Jassy also pioneered many BJE programs, including Jewish Student Network (high school program), the BJE website, Studies of Religion (Outreach) program and  Discover Israel Program (known as Emet Israel Program).

A spokesperson for BJE told J-Wire: “We take great pleasure in bestowing Michael with an Honorary Life President award for his staunch and committed support of BJE.”
