J-AIR: New board, new plans
Jewish community radio J-AIR, 88FM, is planning a new future in an ever-changing media environment.
J-AIR President Jim Cyngler said that while community radio remains a staple, people’s listening experiences are changing.
He said, “J-air already produces podcasts of all its live shows, but we’re planning to expand the range of podcasts so that community organisations and interested parties can use our new facilities to produce more material for the Jewish community.”
J-Air’s new studio in St Kilda was officially opened in 2023. The facility includes two broadcast studios and a production studio, providing greater flexibility and a range of production possibilities which can include video for J-Air’s YouTube channel.
“Our daily broadcast of Israel’s KAN News at 8AM is popular and keeps listgeners up to date with the latest news from Israel.” He said this was another innovation over the last year.
“J-Air provides a strong Jewish community voice, especially in these troubling times,” Cyngler said.
“Our new board possesses a wide range of experience to take us forward, including media, broadcasting, finance, business planning and technical skills.”
