Israeli windsurfers are shining at the International Sailing Federation World Championships in Perth.

Lee Korzits

Lee Korzits took out the women’s gold medal on Sunday and Nimrod Mashich is leading the field in the men’s event.

If the Israeli maintains his lead he will win his first gold medal at a world championship.

He told media: “I’m relaxed and ready to focus on the next few days.”

For Lee Korzits it is another gold medal to add to her collection. She won gold in the world championships in 2003. An hour after being awarded the championship, she received a telephone call from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu who told her “I expect to see you at the London Olympics”.
