Israeli Olympic sailing athletes Noya Bar-Am and Saar Tamir will be special guests at Sydney’s Jewish women’s group, Soul to Sole event later this month.

Noya Bar-Am and Saar Tamir

Noya and Saar share a dream of becoming Israel’s first representatives to compete at an Olympic Games in the fastest type of racing boat – the 49er FX. No Israeli team has ever represented Israel in any Olympic games in this boat, and it is hoped their project will have a significant influence on sailing in Israel.

Noya made her Olympics debut in Tokyo in the 470 class and came eighth in the women’s pairs medal race. However, at the Paris Olympics next year, the 470 class will become a mixed-only event. She then decided to start training with her close friend, Saar – a 2021 European Championship 470 class gold medallist – in a rented 49er FX boat.

The sailors are in Sydney to train for Olympic selection.

Soul to Sole is supported by the North Shore Synagogue.

The event on Sunday, February 19th, will start with a walk at 8:30am, followed by breakfast at 9:30am with a talk from Noya and Saar.

For those not interested in walking,  a welcome awaits you in joining Soul for Sole for breakfast.

The event will be meeting at a home on the North Shore.

The address will be supplied after booking. There is no charge, but please book to assist with planning.
