Ofer Mizrahi has been officially identified and declared  dead. The 23-yr-old Israeli was in a car with three of his friends when the earthquake struck last Tuesday.

Ofer Levy and Gabi Ingle

Israeli news site ynet.com reports that although Mizrahi’s friends had reported his death to his family last Tuesday, the official announcement was not made until today.

Israeli Prime Minister has announced that the two missing Israelis in an earlier story on today’s J-Wire “are feared dead”. Authorities continue to search for Ofer Levy and Gabi Ingle.

Ingle’s uncle has arrived in New Zealand to assist in the search.

Netanyahu told media: “We are working with the New Zealand Government to locate them.”

Mizrahi’s body was scheduled to  be flown to Israel today for burial.
