Arab terrorists shot and killed an Israeli man at the entrance to the city of Ariel in Samaria on Friday, and the two were captured less than 24 hours later by Israeli security forces.

Golev Vyacheslav, 23 from Beit Shemesh, was securing the entrance to Ariel when two terrorists arrived at the guard post in a car and shot at him multiple times. Vyacheslav shielded the second guard with his body and died of his wounds. The terrorists then sped away.

The terrorists then travelled a short distance of a few miles, a 20-minute drive, and reached an open area. There they set fire to their car and returned to their homes.

Israel’s security forces, including Special Forces and the Shin Bet, launched a manhunt and captured the two terrorists on Saturday afternoon. Special Forces arrived and simultaneously raided the two houses in the village of Qarawat Bani Hassan, first with shots toward the walls of the buildings, and a few moments later the two terrorists came out with their hands raised.

The two weapons that the suspects used during the attack were also seized.

The terrorists were identified as Yahya Marai, 19, and Yussef Assi, 20. They were not dispatched by a terrorist organization but one of them is affiliated with Hamas. One of them had previously served a short prison term in an Israeli prison.

Vyacheslav’s finance, Victoria Fligelman, a resident of Ashkelon, was the second guard and was with him at the guard post when he was shot dead. They had gotten engaged only a few weeks ago and had begun to plan their wedding.

Vyacheslav was the 15th Israeli to be murdered in a terrorist attack in recent weeks. Israel has experienced another four severe terror attacks in recent weeks. In the latest attack, a terrorist from Jenin shot and killed three Israelis in the heart of Tel Aviv. Before that, a terrorist from Yabed shot and killed five people in the city of Bnei Brak. In the second attack, two Islamist terrorists shot and killed two Israelis in the city of Hadera. In Be’er Sheva, a terrorist stabbed and murdered four Israelis. Jerusalem has been the scene of several attacks as well.

The country’s security establishment is bracing for further violence, especially toward Israel’s Independence Day, Nakba Day, and the first anniversary of Operation Guardian of the Walls.

What a stupid waste of human life. Two young men with a distorted belief that by killing that young Israeli they are helping their people. So sad such a useless gesture !
Is there no way to reach the Palestinian people ?
