ZAKA is assisting in returning the remains of the Israeli teenager murdered in the Reina nightclub terror shooting in Istanbul.

At least 39 New Year revellers lost their lives when a lone gunman opened fire in the crowded club.

The family of the murdered Israeli, 19 year old Lian Zaher Hassan from the Arab Israeli city of Tira in Central Israel, turned to ZAKA this afternoon (Sunday) with a request to help return her remains for burial. This, because she was not insured and the return of the body is a costly procedure with complex logistics.

“ZAKA is an international humanitarian organisation that honours the dead, regardless of religion, race or gender”, said ZAKA Chairman Yehuda Meshi-Zahav. “We will work on all levels to make sure that the body is brought home for burial in Israel as soon as possible.”
