Israel to UN Security Council: ban Hezbollah
Israeli Foreign Minister Yisrael Katz has called on the United Nations’ Security Council (UNSC) to ban the Hezbollah terror organization, days after Germany made the move.
Katz spoke on Tuesday with Estonian Foreign Minister Urmas Reinsalu and congratulated the country on assuming the presidency of the Security Council at the beginning of the month.
He asked him to promote the outlawing of the Hezbollah terrorist organization.
They also discussed issues of dealing with the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the “treatment of the Iranian violations” and the intensification of economic cooperation between Israel and Estonia.
Katz discussed Hezbollah’s international status with Reinsalu days after Germany announced it had banned the terror organization in its entirety and raided several Hezbollah related institutions in the country.
Katz spoke on Monday with German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas and thanked him for the country’s decision to outlaw Hezbollah. He further asked that Germany work with other European Union countries to do the same.
“Hezbollah denies Israel’s right to exist, threatens violence and terror and continues to massively upgrade its missile arsenal. In Germany we must exhaust the rule of law to tackle Hezbollah’s criminal and terrorist activities,” Maas stated.
Israel, the Netherlands, the US, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Canada, Saudi Arabia, Japan, Colombia, Honduras, Argentina, Paraguay, the United Kingdom, and Germany have all banned Hezbollah.
Some other countries, including the European Union, have banned Hezbollah military wing, but not its political wing, which is very powerful in Lebanon.
Lebanon politically is corrupt and incompetent. Hezbollah’s political wing appears to be the only party helping the people in the area it controls from food supply to medical service as seen on ABC (or was it SBS) last night Tuesday 05 May 20.
