Israel hosting OECD’s Global Forum on Digital Security for Prosperity
For the first time, the Israel National Cyber Directorate will host the annual cyber conference of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
The Secretary-General of the OECD is the former Australian Federal Minister of Finance Matthias Cormann.
The three-day conference, which opened on Monday, is focusing on “Local Challenges – Global Solutions”.
Approximately 60 countries and 40 lecturers from Israel and around the world are participating in the conference.
As part of the conference, which is being held for the third year, Israel will promote multinational practical cooperation in the field of cyber protection.
Yigal Unna, Director-General of the Israel National Cyber Directorate, who is opening the conference, said that Israel’s “national ability to effectively deal with attacks and strengthen defence also largely depends on our ability to remove barriers and work faster between us – between domains, bodies and countries.”
“It is time to upgrade cooperation – beyond the bilateral collaborations that currently exist between countries and make them multinational. Cyber defence is done as a community,” he declared.
The conference includes eight sessions, on international cybersecurity cooperation, supply chain security, cyber insurance, government digitization processes, cybersecurity standardization and certification and more.
The conference will be held online due to Coronavirus (COVID-19) restrictions.
Israel is considered a global leader in the cybersecurity business, and approximately 25%t of all global investments in cybersecurity go to Israel.
Israel has developed advanced security protocols, as cyber-attacks on Israel have risen exponentially in the past several years, reaching up to two million attacks against crucial Israeli infrastructure on a daily basis.
Israel’s rise as one of the world’s leaders in cybersecurity has been boosted by cooperation between the military, government, education and private sectors, a level of partnership unmatched in the Western world.
