Israel contributes to Samoan relief
Shemi Tzur, the Israeli Ambassador to New Zealand has donated NZ$ 12,200.00 on behalf of the State of Israel to the President of the Samoa Victim Support Group.
The donation was made in response to the devastating damage and suffering that occurred following Cyclone Even in December last year.
Ambassador Tzur said: “The Samoan Victim Support Group has been working tirelessly to care for those who need care most. We admire the commitment, the passion, and the compassion the SVSG workers and volunteers demonstrate when helping your people”.
In May last year Ambassador Tzur handed over to the Minister of Health of Samoa, Dr. Leo Tuitama Talalelei, much needed diabetes supplies donated by Insulin for Life Australia. The donation comprised of blood glucose meters, blood glucose test strips, lancets, lancets devices and insulin syringes. Later on in the year in August a similar donation was made to the Cook Islands.
The Cook Islands Football Association last year received shipment of donated football goods valued at $31,000 from the Reagan Milstein Foundation in association with the Embassy of Israel.
This will be Ambassador Tzur’s final official visit to Samoa before returning to Israel after his three year term in New Zealand. “I have been privileged to be accredited to this wonderful part of the world and the people of Samoa have special place in my heart” the Ambassador said.
