Israel and Australia share happy spot – New Zealand beats them both

155 countries have been surveyed by researchers at the Gallup World Poll to find the world’s happiest countries…New Zealand came sixth with Israel and Australia sharing eight place.

The five happiest countries share location and prosperity…Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden and the Netherlands.

The poll was based on responses to questions about satisfaction with life with answers being ranked as score from 0-10.

In getting responses to basic questions such as how interviewees had felt during the previous day, researchers were able to determine if their subjects were well-rested, respected, pain-free and intellectually inspired.

A senior scientist at the polling company said that it seemed likely people are happier in countries in which their basic needs are taken care of.
