House Committee approves elections on March 16
The Knesset’s House Committee approved a bill dispersing the Knesset for its first reading, another step toward the fourth round of elections in Israel in two years’ time.

By a 10-7 vote, the House Committee on Wednesday decided to approve the Bill for the Dispersal of the 23rdKnesset for its first reading in the Knesset plenum.
Committee members from Likud, Shas and United Torah Judaism, members of the coalition, voted against advancing the legislation.
The bill proposes to hold the next election on March 16, 2021.
The bill will be brought to a vote in its first reading in the Knesset plenum on Monday. It requires three reading it the plenum to become law.
The elections come as the left-centre bloc is divided, the Arab-majority Joint List is on the verge of dissolution, and three parties that will combat each other are running on the right, ensuring an acrimonious period in an already toxic environment in Israel.
